The introduction of Kerberos 5 at the RCF will alter the way you interact with the RCF. With the Kerberos 5 roll out, logging into the facility will change in a minor way, as discussed in the Logging in document. Moving from system to system, as discussed in Moving Around will be substantially simpler since no passwords will be required.

Unlike logging in and moving around, access to AFS resources has changed in more noticable ways since the introduction of Kerberos 5. At this time, the separate AFS password database no longer exists. All AFS authentication is tied to the Kerberos 5 password database. Althought the klog command still works, you will now have to type in your Kerberos 5 password at the password prompt.

The Configuring for Kerberos 5 page shows how to set up your environment to make sure that you pick up the correct binaries. Finally, the Using AFS at the RCF document provides information on using AFS at the RCF.
