Technology Meeting Series

The "Technology" meeting series is a set of meetings where various technologies used by a particular experiment or group is presented to others who may have an interest in that technology. The main goal of the meetings is to make information available to the RHIC community so that the information can be exploited if applicable.

Meetings are at 1:00 pm in the ITD Seminar/AccessGrid room and will be broadcast using VRVS. The usual phone bridge is (631)-344-8383. Please check the appropriate entry below to see if any of these conditions change.

15 November 2004: Professor Bin Wang Bandwidth Scheduling and Provisioning in Access and Wide Area Networks
In this talk, we will examine various techniques being developed for provisioning guaranteed bandwidth in networks with different topologies and using different underlying technologies. Specifically, we will present scheduling techniques for Ethernet over passive optical networks (EPON), point-to-point WDM optical links, as well as WDM optical mesh networks. We will also present a new sliding scheduled traffic model and its application in dynamic and lookahead scheduling of bandwidth guaranteed services.
