The Central Reconstruction Server (CRS) farms are one of the two types of Linux farms at the RCF. The CRS Linux farms are dedicated to the processing of raw event data to generate reconstructed events. The CRS farms are strictly batch systems that are not available to general users at the RCF. The current CRS hardware configuration is available. Each experiment at RHIC has been given their own CRS Linux farm. The method of using the CRS resources is unique to each experiment so authorized CRS users need to talk with their experiment's computer liaison or computing documentation in order to find out how he/she is to use the resources. However, three tools that are used by the experiments are the RCF developed CRS reconstruction control software, Condor, and LSF. All three software packages are used to manage batch jobs on the farm. To facilitate the optimal use of the farm and provide a snapshot of farm status, information of about the performance and health of the farms are provided in the CRS system status web pages. |
