The Central Analysis Server (CAS) farms are one of the two types of Linux farms at the RCF. The CAS Linux farms are dedicated to the analysis of the reconstructed events. The CAS farms are a mix of interactive and batch systems that are available to general users at the RCF. Each experiment at RHIC has been given their own CAS Linux farm. The method of using the CAS resources is unique to each experiment so users need to talk with their experiment's computer liaison or computing documentation in order to find out how he/she is to use the resources. However, one tool that is shared by all experiments is the use of Condor to manage batch jobs. RCF also offers LSF as an alternate batch software system on selected servers. To facilitate the optimal use of the farm and provide a snapshot of farm status, information of about the performance and health of the farms are provided in the CAS system status web pages. |
